MELODY SP3 MKII VACUUM TUBE INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER

GENERAL:

SP3 MKII is an integrated amplifier from Melody designed with absolute sonic purity at it's heart.

It produces 38W x 2 RMS from it's four 5881 (military variants of the 6L6GC) valves, 2 per channel, and offers 2, single ended stereo inputs.

Despite it's low price, there is no compromise with the aesthetics or build quality, the casework is manufactured from aluminium with a brushed finish, the dominant feature on the front channel is the oversized volume control which has a silky operation making this amplifier a joy to use as well as to listen to. There are only two other buttons on the front panel, a power on / off and input select, giving this amplifier a contemporary simplicity both operationally and aesthetically.

The top plate is dominated by 3 large boxes and 6 aluminium tube guards, inside 6 tube guards are a pair each of 12AX7, 6922 and 12AU7 whilst the large mid mounted cage covers the four 5881 output tubes. All of these covers are removable should you wish to see the tubes during operation.

2 large covers at the rear hide the oversized output transformers whilst the back panel offers three, five way gold plated binding posts per channel with 4 and 8 ohm taps and a single pair of inputs each side.

The volume control of SP3 MKII employs extreme high-end model made in switched pairs of precise resistors.

All internal component choices have been made to maximise both longevity and sound quality. To optimise sonic performance the design has been keeping the minimum number of components in the signal path at all times.
